What makes a kindred spirit?

If you've ever seen Anne of Green Gables you'll know what I'm talking about when I refer to "Kindred spirits". Kindred spirits are people that you connect with on a deeper level than just basic intellectual and emotional interaction. They are one who you have a unique spiritual connection with. That feeling that somehow you must have known them in a previous life and you've finally reunited. There have always been those kindred spirits I have found throughout my life that have had a unique affect on me and my development as a person. People that I will never forget even though the ability to communicate becomes difficult as we go our separate ways through life. Some of these people that I speak of, to remain nameless, I did not seek after their friendship. It was almost as God placed them there on purpose because he knew I needed them. I've always wondered why we don't connect with everyone like that. What is it that makes the "kindred spirit" connection happen? Could it really be that we knew in the pre-existence that somehow our paths would cross in this earthly life? Or, is that special connection a way that God let's us know he's gifted us to each other for a specific reason. This is getting a little deeper than I intended. But it's a little glimpse into my mind as I've "scanned" the crowd at church and playgroup for the past couple of weeks in our new home wondering who that special person may be that was meant for me, or I for them. And I can't help but mourn the loss of those "Kindred Spirits" that I left most recently in Indiana. So, here's to you all! All you wonderful people that have made a difference in my life! I'll never forget what you have done for me.

It takes a while, doesn't it. What you need is a little baby to nurse in the mother's lounge at church - that's how I met you!!! My only fear is that once you meet this kindred spirit there you'll quit blogging so frequently! Love ya.

Moving to a new place is always a challenge for me, but exciting too. I have felt the same way about IN. I love all of you that I met there and I still miss, will always miss, the kindred spirits there. Best of luck to you in your new adventure!

I just yesterday discovered a kindred spirit here in Michigan. And it made me want to call or somehow reach out to all my past kindred spirits. It may take some time, as we've moved around a lot, and everywhere we go there is always someone... but the point is, I love how we never really forget those wonderful connections. We may not be the best correspondents, but it's nice to know that just as we are often fondly remembering those who have touched our lives for good, so are they continually cherishing that time we shared.

Hi, I just found ur blog thru a friend. I just recently moved to a new city and left all my "kindred spirits" back home... oh how I miss them, but I went to a Life group yesterday and met such great new people and it was as if God placed us here for a reason and let us meet them for a reason. We clicked and I really liked those gals... kindred spirits in the making, who knows? but I'd like to think they are... God is good:) Makes me happy to know new people who I can connect w/after only meeting them once! :) I followed. If you'd like, pass by my blog or friend me on FB: reynalay:)

I miss my best friend. After spending many months, with whom I believe to be a kindred, to now being away from him. He showed me a new world, adventure, and taught me so much about the power of the mind and positivity. I love his mind and his soul.
Our journeys continue as they must and our paths have separated but I hope they cross again in the future. I do not need daily or weekly updates. To hear nothing, I know he is happy. But I am always there when he is in need and vice versa.
I have learned that love is powerful and comes in many different forms. To feel a deep love for a true friend and to not be in love with is such an amazing rarity and I feel blessed. I have gained a friend for life who truly is my family. This, I believe, is a kindred :)
